How creativity can change your company’s performance

Wednesday, April 27, 2022

Creativity, at its core, is the ability to generate original ideas. With this considered, it’s no surprise that creativity can greatly benefit your company and completely change the way you work. The question then becomes how it can help, and how you can channel that creativity to fuel transformative value.

One of the main benefits of creativity is exactly what you’d imagine; You gain ideas that you may not have thought of otherwise, and solutions (or paths to solutions) that don’t follow the traditional route but could be more effective. Creativity is so important that 17 countries are recognizing it as a core competency for children, according to an OECD report. A creative mindset opens many doors to problem-solving, which allows you to not only increase efficiencies but explore new paths in the process.

Another benefit, one that may not be as commonly associated with creativity, is the ripple effect it can provide throughout your organization. Encouraging creativity can increase employee trust, engagement, and motivation. Implementing a creative mindset will not only open you up to new ideas, but it can also make your work environment more productive and enjoyable. This is something that business leaders are already recognizing, as an IBM survey of 1500 CEOs identified creativity as the “most crucial factor for future success.” Essentially, creativity is a tool that can have a large benefit on many aspects of your company.

The most difficult part of the equation is how to implement creativity within your organization. This will vary depending on the business, but the bottom line is to encourage both independent and collaborative thinking. Team-based work efforts can leverage the power of diverse ideas and opinions, as well as generate volumes of ideas and options. Giving people the freedom to think in a unique way, while also allowing them to work together to come up with the best solution. Having genuine connections and relationships allows creativity to flourish, and this creativity will allow your company to find new solutions and better results.

Collaborate. Have Fun. Be Creative.
